Leaves colored gold, bronze and ruby waving against the bright blue autumn sky and glistering buildings while a brisk wind crisps the fallen leaves out of Central Park and across the pavement .
Welcome, you’re home.
Find in the midst of the NYC jungle the best things to do, see and visit. I stayed a few days in the city during the fall so this is a small collection of highlights you can do.
This blog post, New York City: Top 9+ Must See Places, Sights and To Go Do, will guide you while strolling with me through the different avenue’s of wonder.
‘Le Parker Meridien’
Located in the most stunning part of NYC this hotel is decorated with such style and grace that it’ll make you speechless. The hotel has amazing comfortable rooms and a swimming pool that lets you look across central park while cooling off. Afterwards, freshen up with their amazing shower products provided by the brand ‘Moon Shine’, love the smell (sniffle sniffle). Want to get a quick shave or cut? You can do this on the ground floor in a traditional barbers shop.
‘Norma’s’ has the best breakfast in New York City and it’s found in the hotel ‘Le Parker Meridien’. Order the ‘Irresistible Banana-Macadamia Nut Flap Jacks’ or my favorite ‘Upstream Eggs Benedict’, Yummy #nomnom. Plus for dinner the hotel is also famous for their delicious burger restaurant called ‘The Burger Joint’ (make reservations on time for both).
Of course everyone knows the cliche Madison Avenue or 5th Avenue that will lead you along all the known and famous big store names. But, for those of you looking for an area with some inspring, unique, hidden, and upcoming shops take a cab to the ‘Meatpacking District’ and find yourself some cool stuff.
Want to bust out some moves and tear up the dance floor?! Head on over to the ‘PhD Lounge’ club and make sure you’re dressed to impress. Find celebrities, upcoming stars and just really “cool” people here. The only thing is, you have to be on the list to get in so make sure you call ahead and wear the right shoes. No sneakers allowed.
After a long shopping spree and walk through central park it’s time to boost up your energy and also sit back and take a good look at your surroundings. You’re in ‘Serendipity 3’ and this is the place to be, also famous for being the location of the movie ‘Serendipity’. Do notice that almost everything you order is big.
‘Chrysler Buidling’ & ‘Statue of Liberty’ & ‘Ground Zero’
While walking try to also look up a few times and see the beautiful architecture and history found within this big city. At night, the lighting is especially beautiful to look at and is a great way to unwind after the busy commute has passed by. Aside from the bright city lights found on Broadway, also plain buildings are like a fairy tale against the dark night sky. I would recommend reading a bit about the history of New York to also understand certain names such as Brooklyn is derived from the Dutch city Breukelen or Harlem stems back to Haarlem.
Absolutely make sure you visit the big Flagship stores found in New York City such as the Apple store, Prada, Louis Vouiton, Victoria’s Secret, and more. WOW. They are all made to impress and to be big and shiny. The ‘Nike’ store is also great to experience and see. Plus, if you’re traveling from Europe you’ll see the new models months before they arrive in Europe.
Yes, very cliche but absolutely a must do and even for those of you who hate musicals (cough cough, yup that’s me). The props, lighting, effects and actors make the night unforgettable by creating an amazing show. We went to the ‘Lion King’ and boy was it King!
When we were seated it took me 10 minutes just to take everything in: WOW! In the back of the restaurant a HUGE budha statue is found in-between two large trees. The ceiling is incredibly high and you have the feeling that you’re not in NYC anymore. Order yummy asian Dim Sum or be surprised by the many different dishes. Don’t forget to order a fresh and yummy cocktail while you wait on your food.
